Fifty Fifty Brewing Company, based out of Truckee, CA has been pushing boundaries and making world class, award-winning beer since 2007. Their mountain-town ethos of ‘Finding Balance’ has guided them well and in 2022 with expansion and a new location on the horizon it was time to dial-in their identity once and for all.

Not wanting to lose any established credibility or brand-equity it was important that the new identity nod to their original branding and highly recognizable orange main color and embody the idea of balance.

The FFBCO team didn’t want anything cliche or mountain-town-kitsch so for the symbol I tried to incorporate Tahoe’s best supporting actor – its amazing Jeffrey Pines – though heavily simplified. As an added bonus I was also able to create the tree-inspired symbol with two back to back F’s harkening back to their original brand mark.

I had been wanting to work with Zach for years after being a fan of his work for so long. When we finally made the decision to refresh the FiftyFifty Brewing Co. brand, I jumped at the opportunity to work with him. He was extremely patient with our team, as we all had different opinions on the direction the brand should go. In the end, we were presented with three amazing options for our new logo that were all so good that it was hard to pick just one. One of the many things I loved about working with Zach is that you don't just see your work on the screen, he shows you what it looks like on the side of the building, on a hat, shirts, glassware... you name it. He gets you out of your comfort zone with merch, showing you not only what you would like to wear, but what all the cool kids are wearing these days.

I highly recommend Zach for any sort of creative project. He is actually fun to work with and never makes your ideas feel dumb or impossible. I loved seeing him work through the creative process that got us to our new logo. Overall great experience that I really enjoyed and can't wait to find more creative projects for Zach!
